LADY IN BLACK - THE NEW SINGLE
BY URIAH HEEP

Uriah Heep are back,
not that
they've ever been away. A recent sell out tour of
the UK including London
Astoria, a new CD and a
new DVD prove that Uriah Heep are still a major
force in the world of rock.
Not many songs have a pedigree
like Lady in Black. First recorded in 1971 for
the Salisbury LP, Lady in Black was to become a
firm favorite with the crowds on tour because of
song-a-long chorus. In fact, it was so catchy
that the Estoria National Guard adopted it as
their marching anthem ! In 1977 it topped the
German charts for a massive 13 weeks, keeping
Paul McCartney's Mull of Kintyre off the number
one spot, a feat which earned Uriah Heep the
Golden Lion award, the German equivalent of a
Brit Award.
Lady in Black remains a firm
favorite in the Uriah Heep set list, especially
in Germany and Rissia. As it was said recently
"it's the perfect song, 2 chords and no
words in the chorus , a guaranteed
winner!".
Remixed by Pip Williams in
2001, this version of the Uriah Heep classic
track shows a very different side to Uriah Heep,
probably not what you would expect from one of
the hardest working rock bands in the UK.
