Just wanted to you guys on the list know what's going on "on the road".
First, Lannis and Mac are still on cloud nine. The gig last night started
at 10:15 and didn't end until midnight. The venue was about the size of a
basketball court.
Dave O has been excellent at keeping us informed about the band's plans. And, "the band"
members are REAL people. After the gig they came back in to sign autographs
and mingle. Just to let you know how approachable they are, let me set up
one situation. I put together a notebook for my and Lannis' Heep tour using
seveal different programs and the Internet since we had to keep up with 8
gigs. The bus driver didn't know how to get to Deerfield. Brought my book
and map in and showed Dave. Bernie was standing at the table next to Lannis
and Mac talking to some fans. They were asking him about the tour dates
lineup. Lannis handed him the notebook. He showed it to the fans. I asked
him if he would sign it and he told me "you know more about where we're
going than we do!"

When he spotted the date on the Deerfield page he
exclaimed "That's my 45th birthday!" (Have you every really looked at his
eyes? They sparkle!) Stood right there and rubbed shoulders with Bernie.
I'm not the fans that all of you are and I really didn't know what to ask.
So trust me, these guys will sit and talk to you. It is worth your time if
you are a true fan.
Now for last night:
The list set (actual piece of paper with list complements of Dave O):
Return to Fantasy
Universal Wheel
Only the Young
Stealin' (by now the house was rockin')
Love in Silence
Between 2 Worlds
I Hear Voices
Heartless Land
Sunrise
Traveller in Time
Gypsy
Look at Yourself
July Morning
encore
Bird of Prey
Easy Living
I have some digitals pics from last night. Dave said that the group does
not like to have "flash" pictures taken during the gig. You know how it is
to have someone snap your picture
with a flash and you're seeing dots for a
while. Several people last night were getting right in their faces flashing
cameras. I respect the wishes of the band and will not flash-snap a picture
while they are performing. Will get pics for you as soon as possible. Can't
wait to look at John's set from Sterling Heights especially since I was
told I couldn't bring mine in.
There were some fans up on the dance floor during the gig which made
picture taking difficult. And there was a group of young people chatting
and playing around during the performance - big disturbance. Bernie belted
out the songs as usual. He made air cirlces with his hand during Universal
Wheels and put his hand in his pocket during one of the other songs. Mick -
the man is just unbelievable on the guitar. He did some solo pieces that he
didn't do at the other shows. Lee, Trevor, and Phil each had a solo but Mac
and Lannis will have to give you details later.
During a private comversation with Lee, he explained that it will take devoted fans (like you guys) to spread the
word which would get more people to buy the recordings which would get more
radio stations playing more of the songs which would give more exposure to
the band thus causing more of a demand. (Lee is a very interest person and
I enjoyed having the opportunity to sit (on the floor, no less) and chat
with him
.)
If there is something in particular that you want me to look for to report
on, please ask. I'll be using the computer more than Mac or Lannis and I
want to tell you what you want to know about the tour. And, all I can say
is AWESOME, and now I know these guys and they know me.
The bus left after the gig last night for the long drive to Louisville.
Bobbie
