North American Tour Reports

June 19th - Medina Minnesota

July 15, 2001

It has been almost a month since I saw Uriah Heep at the Medina Entertainment Center in Minnesota, and I keep thinking back to the show everyday, especially while at work-must be the Heep mouse pad I bought at the show!  I also am proudly wearing the new T-shirt.  I was in great need of replacing the one I bought in high school many years ago.

The show was fantastic, incredible, etc,  I had an absolute blast.  The band sounded great, like the true professionals that they are.  But what really impressed me is how much fun they had, and the great performance they gave even for a small crowd.  Like the other reviews here have said, “these guys really care about their fans.”

I can’t wait to see them again, and I echo all of the raves that Steve Streeter and Byron Hill wrote about in their earlier reviews.  Just wanted to add some good info to what they said.  I kept track of the song list for the night, and here it is!!!

             Return to Fantasy

            Universal Wheels

            Only the Young

            Stealin’

            Love In Silence

            Between Two Worlds

            I Hear Voices

            The Wizard

            Sunrise

            Traveller In Time

            Gypsy

            Look At Yourself

            July Morning

            Bird of Prey (encore)

            Easy Livin’ (encore)

Again, it was a great, great, GREAT, show!  One other thing that Heep fans may want to know is that you can find almost any old and new (and import) Heep release on cdnow.com (no, I don’t work for them, but I have ordered a few Heep rarities and the price/ service is great).  Sweet Freedom and Wonderworld are strangely missing, but I have added some gems to my current 20 Heep titles.  Check it out.

Keep on rockin’ everyone, and let the band know we love what they are doing!!!

Uriah Heep went was just plain incredible! There are no words to describe
this show which was my first, even though I've followed them for 25 years.
Bernie IS the man! His vocals are the best! The new material sounded GREAT.
Love in Silence was one of my favorite live tunes.

Breifly met up with Dave O. and was very happy to see my name in his road book. Yes … I brought many Heep.com Flyers….I truly hope it helped! Heep NEEDS to be heard by the younger music fans!

Mick was doing things on his guitar that were pure ecstasy … WOW … just effortlessly sailing thorough song after song. I was disappointed that the crowd was light … I expected a lot more fans!!

After the show my wife and I hung out to wait for Heep to come out and say Hello. Of course they did. This band CARES deeply about their fans! You can really tell when you speak with them all. My wife loved the show also.

During the last 4 songs I walked right up to the stage and really had a blast! I was amazed MORE fans did NOT do the same! Come on and STAND UP!!! Rock out! Anyway … they all signed my Sea of Light CD booklet and I had Mick and Lee sign my Wonderworld Songbook. (Wonderworld being one of my all time faves…)

I hope Heep comes back to Minnesota! I will do all I can to spread the word….
Heep DON'T STOP!!!!!

THANK YOU HEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are the greatest! (and my wife agrees!)

I Lived a dream last night being able to help Dave Owen at the mercho-stand with my son before and after the concert. Many thanks Dave to let me give a little something back to a Band that has meant ALOT to me for 30 years.

The concert in a word WOW!!!!. The band was dead on and really enjoyed themselves. I didn't hear any technical glitches as in past reviews. All the harmonies were great though Trevor told me he has a bit of sore throat and said he's having a rough time singing.

The show began with Return To Fantasy, what an opener. They did a portion of RTF in the soundcheck, but the shows version blew me away.

I can't remember the order of all the songs as I was caught up in the TOTAL show of the band. Universal Wheels, Stealin', Only The Young, The Highlight of the show for me was Love In Silence, Trevor is just phenomenal on his bass parts, Thanks Trevor for being an inspiration to me. The Wizard was next, Bernie was talking after the show to some fans and he said they just added that to the set list so it was jarring to remember the words and the fan said that's OK we all remembered the word which got a laugh out of him. Between Two Worlds, I Hear Voices, Awesome performance everytime I hear these, on the CD's, to last night Bernie just keeps getting better.

I believe these two songs are a couple of Heeps Future Classics as Bernie called them, right on. The crowd was blown away by these "new" Heep songs, as many after the show asked where they could get there "new" stuff. It's out there you just have to dig a bit for them, is what I told them. July Morning was in here someplace another great performance, for how many times the band has done this song in there history it just seems to be getting fresher. Bernie sang the first two verses of the song sitting on Mick's Monitors. Somewhere they also did Sunrise WOW. If I missed a song or two I was just plain mesmerized by these guys and can't remember.

The encores consisted of Look At Yourself, and Easy Livin' With these two Heep classics the crowd was in a frenzy. Mick did an extended lead part which just added fuel to the fired up crowd during LAY. Going directly into Easy Livin' which left me drained and ecstatic.

After the show the band went and cleaned up and changed, then came out to the booth to sign autographs and talk with the fans. Many more DVD's went. They sold all the CD's Dave brought, but he said they should be getting more for tonight's show in Milwaukee, WI. I think this North American tour has brought alot of old Heep fans up to date.

In the years of being a fan of Uriah Heep I Have loved there Music, there shows, but last night I gained 5 friends and a new appreciation for the band Uriah Heep

Keep On Heepin' Byron Hill
