As many of you probably
noticed, we didn't send the e-heep newsletter last week. It happened for
several reasons, but it was the first time in 3 years of e-heep that that
happened. The good thing about this is that we don't have the obligation
anymore, ha! Anyway, we're back to our routine now... see you every week,
for many more years to come! ;-) Happy 3-year birthday to all of us, and
many thanks to all who have been sending
contributions to keep the Heep community alive... especially the band, who
will be recording and releasing a new studio album this year... 33 years
(wow!) after the band's inception!

- The Belgian "Mindview" magazine's writer Geert Ryssen placed "The
Magician's Birthday Party" DVD on #1 of his 2002 year list!
- The website for the Arrow Festival on June 27th gets a lot of visitors
every day. The poll is frequently used, and Uriah Heep is on
second place now. Budgie is now added to the line up, and more bands will
follow. Please visit the site at
http://www.classicrockfestival.tk . The Sweden Rock Festival will also
include now, besides Uriah Heep, Yes and Whitesnake. All details at
http://www.swedenrock.com .
- Our official "discography & lyrics especialist", Tapio Minkkinen, is
trying to complete the albums pages with the cover images for all Heep's
CDs, LPs, singles, etc. Right now there are only a few missing, and he has
made a list of all the compilations and singles cover images that he'd still
need to have the cover artwork complete, on this page:
http://www.saunalahti.fi/~htapiom/missing.htm . Anyone willing to help
us, please get in touch!

MORE HEEP... AND RELATED!

- John "Velvet Voice" Lawton informs us that they start recording the new
John Lawton Band album on the 3rd March and should be in the studio, till
the 14th April. Classic Rock Productions
(http://www.classicrockproductions.com)
have given him the "green light" to put together, what is hoped to be
another milestone in the band's history. The album will be a lot more
rockier than recent releases, judging by the songwriting going on, and will
feature all the guys from the new lineup! More details can always be found
at John's websites:
http://www.johnlawtonband.com (please also notice the special 10%
discount deal on all CDs and DVDs there!) and
http://www.johnlawton.org .
- After the successful gig on January 25th in St. Petersburg, Russia,
together with the State Symphony Orchestra, in front of 3,500 people, Ken
Hensley is now back to Spain to record his new solo album, to be called "The
Last Dance". On the website (http://www.ken-hensley.com),
more info
can be found on the reasons for the choice for the album title, as well as
the new plans ahead!
- The Dutch magazine "IO Pages" printed a nice review for "One More Night"
from John Lawton's & Steve Dunning's project. And so did "Mindview" in
Belgium, and "Musical Box" in Brazil (http://www.musical-box.org).
- Praying Mantis are back with a brand new studio release entitled "The
Journey Never Ends". The album - contrary to what previously announced -
features not one but two lead singers: John Sloman (ex-Uriah Heep, Lone Star
and Gary Moore) and Doogie White (ex-Rainbow and currently with Yngwie
Malmsteen and Cornerstone). Both have already played and toured with Mantis
in the past years. Frontiers Records is aiming to a late April release
(thanks to Barry Hoffman for the info).
