Heepy Daze's Report
Still
stunned from our previous two gigs, Edinburgh and
Carlisle we arrived in London and headed to Shepherd's
Bush Hall where we met up with old and new friends.
The
festival kicked off with the premier screening of the
Heep live on the Firefly Tour 1976, it was great to
see John Lawton at his very best. This was followed by
the auction of a Roger Dean print, what a bargin that
was, we would have liked to have bought it
but wondered how we would get it home.
An
evening with Ken Hensley was certainly interesting!
Saturday's festival club was really good which
started off with the search for the biggest Heep fan,
we all felt confident after just missing out on
previous years, but after only two questions answered
I found I had missed out again.
Then the
highlight of the festival club weekend was the
accoustic set by Circle of Hands, who where excellent
and had us all singing along, the lead vocalist
Torsten llg has a wonderful voice and sang The Park
very well! We bought their CD and would recommend this
to anyone.......
Off to
the Empire, for the show we had been waiting for for a
whole year, we wondered could this top the two gigs
we had seen the previous week, we needn't have
worried!!!
After
White Noise had finished their set which we all
enjoyed the chant began..........Heep were on stage
and the whole place lit up, the atmosphere was
electric. Blood Red Roses started it all and the pace
did not ease off at all for the rest of the gig the
sound on the night was unbelievable, where these guys
get their energy from is a mystery to us all, I can
honestly say in all my 30 years of going to Heep gigs
this has to be the best one yet. After waiting for a
whole year for this gig there is one criticism, it was
over far to quickly as we could have listened to them
all night.
After the
gig it was back to Bush Hall for the after show party
and we did get to say goodbye to all our friends old
and new.
Roll on
next year................
