The
headline act of the day are
Uriah Heep, and
unfortunately the sound crew
got it wrong… they could
hardly be heard from back of
the sound stage. The band
themselves are in great
form, performing their new
album 'Wake The Sleeper' in
it's entirety. This would
normally be a disappointment
from a band with nearly 40
years worth of back
catalogue to choose from,
but this album is so good
from start to finish, every
song fits well alongside
such classics as "Gypsy",
"July Morning", and "Stealin'".

Who
was the most "difficult/easy"
musician that you worked for?
This one is easy. Mick Box of
Uriah Heep is the most easy to
work with. I have met few people
like Mick that can make you feel
totally at your ease and treat
you with the utmost respect. The
man just has it all mixed up
right. He is professional, kind,
respectful, and down to earth.
In a very important way it was
Mick Box and Uriah Heep that
kept me believing I should
continue my concert photography.
It was easy to get my photos to
them, be exclusively published
on their Sonic Origami CD, be
nominated their official concert
photographer, be brought on tour
with them to Croatia, Germany,
Austria, and Italy AND get paid
for having my photos published
exclusively in my very first
professional music CD with a
legendary band called Uriah Heep.

Sue and Paul Cullen
Well
Friday night in
Holmfirth, the
Picturedrome and its
Heep twice in one week.
What a great venue as
Dougie (The Mega)
remarked it is like a
small Shepherd's Bush
Empire and the
atmosphere was
fantastic. Lots of
heepsters were there
Marije, Pete Wharton,
Blackburn Heepster and
loads more.
Maccara opened the show,
Holly (Evans - the lead
singer) has a great
voice, they did another
cracking gig but then it
was Heep time, I can't
explain but the
anticipation is chilling
and the hairs on the
back your neck start
standing up one by one,
then Heep kicked off,
the Picturedrome and
everyone in it was
transported to the
wonderful world of Heep.
The sound
was exceptional thanks
to the wizardry
of Charley, Christos,
and the rest of the
team. Everybody was
really enjoying it, the
mix of fans was great
young fans singing along
to the songs from WTS
and us oldies screaming
out the classics another
great night was had by
all. The Heep
performance was mind
blowing, I believe no
other band could have
got close to Heep last
night. After
the show the band and
the sound guys signed
albums and chatted to
the fans. A fantastic
night was ending but
what a night!
Thanks guys - Uriah Heep
the best band in the
world.
(
disregard the wrong date
on the pictures, it
surely was november 17
2008 ) York, The
Duchess, Monday 17th
November 2008 the day I
had waited so long for
had eventually arrived.
The Duchess was a small
venue and my first
thought was how will
Heep sound? The support
band Maccara kicked off
and were pretty good the
singer had a good voice
and the band really
worked hard but then it
was Heeptime, Charlie
was buzzing about and
then Heep hit the stage
with 'Wake the Sleeper'
WOW! it came at us like
a hurricane, Heep were
back on fire and the set
was magic a great mix of
the new album and some
great classics and yes
they did 'July
Morning'it doesn't get
any better than this.
The buzz was great as
they did not take their
foot off the pedal, I
really could go on but
hey these guys are
magic, Uriah Heep the
best band in the world -
Roll on Holmfirth on
Friday. Bye the way I
needn't have worred as
Charlie too is a wizard
and the sound was
superb. Heepy Daze (John
Smail)
Jerihon (Easy Livin’) Overall a complete version
with good harmonies. They look like they are
enjoying themselves and are comfortable with
their performance which is a big part of what
Heep is all about! It has also got the correct
drum shuffle ala our Lee. "
The
Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark
is
a Uriah Heep fan and she requested on
national radio to hear a Uriah Heep song.
This was sent to Mick Box by his friend in
New Zealand Stuart Gouk. The radio
station sent Stuart the clip after he had
sent them a picture of Mick
and his sister Kim singing at the Taupiri
Concert and they were blown away. This was
on last years family holiday in new Zealand.
This was the
first very important England game at Wembley
under the new manager Fabio Capello.
I was kindly taken there by Mark Mansell (who
works at the same law firm as my wife Sheila)
and this really was the ultimate Wembley
football experience. Being so close to the new
manger and all of the players was a real buzz as
we were virtually on the touchline. To top it
off Jermaine Jenas (Tottenham Hotspur) scored
the first goal. As we were so close to the
action we were spotted on TV a few times and
Charlotte who was watching the game at home was
so surprised she sent me a text saying she had
just seen us on TV.

URIAH HEEP ON CANVAS
A fans eye view of the band in action with
Lee on the drums painted in glorious colour.
Inspiration for a Uriah Heep art gallery
perhaps. I hope it brings you many hours of
enjoyment.
