Internationally acclaimed artist Paul Raymond Gregory is celebrating the news
that his accomplished work is being recognised with an exclusive exhibition of
his 30 painting strong series of Lord Of The Rings. The invitation comes
directly from the prestigious Prince Eugen’s Waldemarsudde Art Museum,
Stockholm, Sweden - home of the artist-Prince Eugen at the turn of the last
century.
The Prince’s large collections of Scandinavian art from 1880-1940 along
with most of his own works are exhibited here which provides the perfect
Scandinavian setting to display Paul’s paintings.
Commissioned
over 25 years ago by the eminent art dealer and former Sotheby director Peter
Nahum, proprietor of
London’s The Leicester Galleries this
extensive collection features the artist’s interpretation of the classic Tolkein
series. Some of the paintings stand 2 metres by 3 metres and contains 2 major
triptychs (2 metres by 6 metres) featuring poignant scenes and characters. This
is indeed an exhaustive labour of love and reflects a focused and dedicated
collaboration between Gallery and the Artist.
In addition to this spectacular and unique series of work
which also features specially commissioned hand-carved and gilded frames of
extraordinary variety, imagination and impact will be a selection of Paul
Raymond Gregory’s complementary fantasy artwork and an ante exhibition of music
related paintings and imagery. This will feature original artwork for Metal band
album covers by Saxon, Molly Hatchet, Blind Guardian, Freedom Call and from
Paul’s own Metal Festival – the complete set of Bloodstock Festival Art.
Running from 18 March to 31 August 2007, the exhibition
has plans to extend to other parts of Europe, uniting various invitations to
continue as a constantly travelling world wide retrospective.
